It was through the practice of Moksha Yoga where she began to truly appreciate the value in Yoga, and the importance of being in the present moment. With this Maa Moksha {Michelle} started along her path of yoga and began integrating this practice into her daily life, mentally and spiritually.

While practicing yoga Maa Moksha was introduced to Health Qigong and fell in love with the beauty of this ancient Chinese art, its history, and the aspects of using Qi (Chi) energy to improve ones health. As a result, she studied with the Masters of the Chinese Health Qigong Association in becoming a Health Qigong Instructor. In September of 2008 Maa Moksha was a member of Canada’s Health Qigong Team, Toronto and Bronze Cup Winner in the TreX Games-International Sporting and Fitness Competition in Busan, South Korea. After battling some injuries Maa Moksha looked for a more therapeutic form of yoga that would aid in her rehabilitation and the rehabilitation of others, and found Restorative yoga. She trained with Andrea Peloso, assistant teacher to world renowned Judith Hanson Lasater and completed her 40 hour certification in December 2011 and 6 hour Restorative Training with Cindi Lee of OM Studio’s New York. In addition, Maa Moksha worked alongside with Osteopath Therapist in assisting in the rehabilitation of clients, many suffering with a variety of musculoskeletal injuries and pathologies.

In June of 2014 Maa Moksha, was granted a partial scholarship to study the Advanced Yoga Therapy Diploma at Paramanand Institute of Yoga Sciences and Research in Indore, India.   For 3 months she,  ‘Lived Her Yoga’, while at the ashram and studying Traditional Yoga / Yoga Therapy under the academic and spiritual guidance of Guru Ji, Dr. Omanand, disciple of Yug Purush MahaMandeleshwar Swami Parmanand Giri Ji Maharaj.  During her 3 month stay in India Maa Moksha, began her spiritual journey of awakening towards self- realization.  This awareness was most profound and healing. Through practices of asana, pranayama and meditations, She, personally experienced the intense cleansing of the chakras and energy channels within the body, feeling her body, mind and spirit come into balance.  It was through the ability of trust and surrender that allowed for complete acceptance of what is.  Through that acceptance of what is, a profound internal connection was established.   Most of illness and disease is 80-90% caused by a imbalance with the mind-body-spirit.  At Paramanand, Maa Moksha,  gained valuable theological and practical working knowledge of Yoga Therapy for many chronic pathologies, injuries and diseases, as well as Ayurveda healing practices and treatments for a healthy lifestyle.

One of the beautiful aspect of the yoga being taught at Paramanand Ashram is that it’s is scientifically backed by years of practices and research. As well, it is the true classical yoga that has been told in the ancient scriptures and philosophies to yogis for over 5000 years. While in India Maa Moksha completed her 500hrs Certification  and currently is working towards the completion of her Advanced Yoga Therapy Diploma, through intensive distance learning and sadhana.   Michelle was blessed with the spiritual re-birth and name of ‘Maa Moksha Anand’, that represents her  ‘True Nature’  by her Guru Ji Dr. Omanand meaning, Mother of Liberation.

She believes that in order to truly help someones mental and emotional health, you must focus on the person holistically and understand the connection between the physical, the mental/emotional and spiritual health. The practice of Yoga Therapy,  Yoga and/or Health Qigong provides the perfect balance. It helps calm and still the mind, while allowing the practitioner to cultivate their own natural energy through movements and breath, while giving yourself permission to just ‘be’ in the moment.
